Reboot

Where to begin?

I have not had great focus…really ever, but as of late things are pretty disjointed.

Volunteering

I started to get into the Podcasting 2.0 area and wanted to help

I am volunteering as a SysAdmin for an open source project, so the users can have a better experience.

Music

Hardware synths have been an interesting distraction. I have enjoyed what I have purchased. Thus far, I have:

  • stylophone
  • Korg monotron delay
  • Korg monotron duo
  • Pocket Operator 33
  • m8 headless
  • Korg volca
  • Arturia microfreak This is a hobby that gets expensive quickly I want to get the Dirtywave m8 device, the tracker handheld form factor is appealing. And I was hoping to get a bit further away from screens…but that is hard with wanting to record things.

Lock picking

Then there is the lock picking fun. While I have no skill at it, many locks seem to just look hard and thus aren’t challenged.

BBQ/grilling/smoking

BBQ is something I want to explore more. I think it will help with some of the changes my family has experienced with food issues. I got a Char-Griller Akorn as a cost effective way to start, and being steel if the kids knock it over it shouldn’t break; not to mention cost multiple thousands of dollars.

KEEBS

I ended up going down the rabbit hole of custom keyboards for a bit. I settled on a cheap, small keeb that uses qmk to program. I’ve built 6 of them and that has been fun.

Solar energy and battery packs

I don’t have time to get into this now, but a synopsis. I have a small solar array that feeds several batteries. The power can be used for many things around my house.

2024

With the new year already a month in and life throwing a couple curve balls, it will be interesting to see where it goes. Maybe I focus on something that isn’t on a computer, but then how would I start to blog again….I do have an AlphaSmart that the kids play with.
