What should be captured and what is not needed?
I have been grappling with the above question for pretty much my life. I fee like I have never had a good answer. If it is captured I can know it is safe, but then I tend to forget the thing was captured. Which lends credence to the idea that i need a note taking system. I would need something self-hosted, linkable, tag-able and secure.
I have tried to use hand written notes, but I have an aversion to reading my hand writing and it is not searchable. Most paper like interfaces are out due to the aforementioned need for self-hosting.
I will have to try again and see what I can find. The options that come to mind:
- joplin
- obsidian
- logseq
- nextcloud notes
- qownnotes
- evernote
I really did like qownnotes in the past, I’ll try that again.
The rest either didn’t jive with my mental model and/or were proprietary.
I have liked several of the NextCloud apps, but they never really stuck.
