I have been saving up to get a new server. I want a HL15. It would triple the number of drives I could have in a server, and finally get me a case that can go in my rack. Not having a lot of time to figure out what would be needed if I got the base model, I have been eyeing the pre-built one. Though once I compare their CPU to what I have….it is left wanting.

My current NAS has a Intel Xeon D-1521 @ 2.40GHz with a TDP of 45W and CPU Mark of 5657; circa 2016.

The HL15 pre-built comes with a Intel Xeon Bronze 3204 @ 1.90GHz with a TDP of 85W and CPU Mark of 4835; circa 2020.

I currently have a larger case that could handle 6 HDD and some 5.25" drives, I could get a new motherboard/CPU/ram/etc and maybe power supply holding out for later.

All that said I was planning on keeping the old NAS as another server, it has 64GB of ecc ram, 2x10Gbps copper NICs, IPMI (or similar), etc; plus it should run for years.
